It Seems Alot Like Spring

(written Oct. 9th, 1992 when Berlin wall was coming down, Mikhail Gorbachev was pushing his new openness and Jimmy Bakker was going to prison)

The coldness of the world is giving away
To a new season of love and hope.
Already sprouts have appeared from seeds of freedom
As some surge liberty, while others may grope.

False prophets who thought they'd found easy wealth
Now find themselves doing hard time in jail.
Sometimes it seems evil doers escape and keep taking
But eventually universal justice will prevail.

Because the red leader uncloaks the ice prison
The chains of communism are melting in the sun.
The horizons expand as the sky opens up
And the people step out of the dark, squinting, as they run.

The sun shines longer as the dreary nights seem to fade
New hopes rise up as an old wall comes down.
It seems .there’s a new light today, a freshness in the air.
It does seem like spring has finally come to our town.
