Senator Paul Wellstone Paul Wellstone was one of a kind. He was a man of principle and conviction, in a world that has too little of either. He was dedicated to helping the little guy, in a business dominated by the big guys. We who had the privilege of working with him hope that he will be remembered as he lived every day: as a champion for people. His family was the center of his life and it breaks our hearts that his wife of 39 years and his daughter Marcia were with him. Our prayers are with Mark and David and the grandchildren he and Sheila cherished so much. |
You
may not know it..but you did lose a friend.
If you are an Educator..you lost one of the most vocal advocates that supported any & all aspects of teaching...on every level. If you are a Union Member, you lost a genuine supporter of a "living wage"....with benefits to reward your contribution to Corporate profits. If you farm...you lost a voice that understood that the "family farm" is a way of life first...and an economic stimulus second. If you ever stood up for principle...despite popularity..you lost a partner. If you ever had a colleague that you dis-agreed with..but still maintained a genuine friendship with...you lost an associate. If Social Justice...the plight of the "have nots" is of concern to you..you lost an ally. Paul Wellstone "is" a friend of mine. We have our differences politically.....but not personally. I doubt, that in my lifetime, I will ever encounter another person that did make a difference...to so many. As he put it " I speak for the little feller's...not the Rockefeller's" I have known Paul Wellstone for over almost 15 years. I was actively involved in his campaigns. As I stated ....you did lose a friend. I just felt compelled to let you know. - Steve McDeid, October 31, 2002 |
